The Town and Gone Girl are finding new success on streaming after becoming hits in the 2010s. 2010’s The Town, which Affleck co-wrote and directed, is based on Chuck Hogan’s 2004 crime novel Prince of Thieves and stars Affleck, Rebecca Hall, and Jeremy Renner. 2014’s Gone Girl, which was directed by David Fincher, is based on the 2012 novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn and follows Nick Dunne (Affleck), who is put in the public spotlight after the disappearance of his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike). The only movies above the Oscar-nominated 2010 title on the chart are current hits, namely the buzzy Amy Adams horror-comedy Nightbitch at No. 2 and the thriller Amber Alert, which stars Hayden Panettiere and Tyler James Williams, at No. 1.
