Christmas in Baltimore is here. Take a look and choose from these holiday-themed events. See a classic ballet or play with a Maryland flavor, see trains big and small, go to a classic comedy with a live orchestra or watch a parade of lighted boats.
Ongoing: ‘Unmistakably Maryland Nutcracker’
See Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic with a Maryland twist when the Mid-Atlantic Youth Ballet performs an “Unmistakably Maryland Nutcracker” this weekend at Towson University’s Stephens Hall Theatre, 7900 Stephens Ave., Towson. Don’t miss the Preakness Party, Battle of Baltimore versus the Hon Rats, Poe’s Raven and more. Over 120 local dancers, children ages 4-and-up to adults, make up the production. Ongoing: ‘A Christmas Carol’
See Dicken’s classic transported to Victorian Baltimore when the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company performs “A Christmas Carol” this month. Gregory Burgess will take the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Ongoing: Holiday Festival of Trains
Get a trainload of fun at the Holiday Festival of Trains at the B&O Railroad Museum, 901 W. Pratt St. Enthusiasts can marvel at the seasonal model train layouts, get a photo with Santa or take a ride on the Reindeer Railway. Admission costs $28 for adults, $24 for seniors, $18 for children, and free for members. Photos with Santa cost $10 to $35. Ongoing: ‘Elf in Concert’
For holiday fun, mix one classic Christmas comedy with an accompanying score performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at Elf in Concert at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. 1212 Cathedral St. The 2003 film centers on Buddy the Elf played by Will Ferrell and his journey to find his human father. Saturday: Parade of Lighted Boats
Watch a holiday-themed flotilla float by at the Parade of Lighted Boats along the Fells Point Waterfront, 3720 Dillon St. All kinds of boats from Canton will be lit up and decorated from stem to stern. The free event precedes the Lighting of the Tree on Broadway Square at 5:30 p.m. and is the finale of the Old Tyme Christmas event.
