Endless summer nights

The second annual Grayslake Summer Nights is 5-9 p.m. July 29 in Grayslake. Tickets are free. At 10 S. Seymour Ave. 847-223-6888; facebook.com/GrayslakeAreaChamber.
Formerly known as the Downtown Grayslake Street Dance, this event will feature two entertainment stages and a Battle of the Bands.

Praises up
Gospelfest will be from 3 to 7 p.m. July 30 at the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago. Tickets are free. At 1215 Green Bay Road. 847-367-6640; lcfpd.org/gospelfest-2023/.
Adrian Dunn, a singer, composer and conductor, is the headliner at this year’s Gospelfest presented by the Lake County Forest Preserve District.
Attendees can also expect musical performances by Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Waukegan, Light of the World, Called to Worship and Gloria Gadsden.
All ages are welcome; bring a blanket or lawn chair. Food will be available for purchase or bring your own picnic.
Country fun
Chicago country singer Mackenzie O’Brien and her band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville. Tickets are free; vehicle entrance fee $10. At 16400 W. Buckley Road. 847-968-3499; lcfpd.org/things-to-do/concerts.
Concerts in the Plaza continue with Mackenzie O’Brien and Band covering songs from Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings and the Eagles.

Blues giants
Rock And Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Elvin Bishop and Grammy Award-winning music legend Charlie Musselwhite will perform at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park. Tickets are $44. At 200 Ravinia Park Road. 847-266-5100; ravinia.org.
The duo’s award-winning 2020 Alligator Records release, “100 Years of Blues,” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. Musselwhite recently received the 2023 Blues Music Award for Acoustic Album of The Year for “Mississippi Son.”
No ‘Joke(r)’
The Steve Miller Band performs at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. Tickets are $99-$179. At 203 N. Genesee St. 847-263-6300; geneseetheatre.com.
Whether you call him the space cowboy, the gangster of love or even Maurice, there’s no denying Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller has written a lot of hits; including “The Joker,” “Space Cowboy,” “Swingtown” and “Jungle Love.”
