Striking writers and actors are forcing delays in several major movies planned by Sony Pictures, the company announced Friday.
Two movies which were expected to be released before the end of 2023 — a “Ghostbusters” sequel, and a “Kraven the Hunter” Marvel comic book adaption — have been pushed back, reports NBC News.

Sony said it will also postpone some important 2024 films, including the highly anticipated “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” sequel, originally slated for March 29.

The studio is reportedly “considering several dates depending on how long the strike lasts.”

Other projects that have already completed filming and post-production have also been impacted by the strikes.
“Gran Turismo” was moved from an August 11 to August 23 release date, following two weekends of sneak previews. The reason stems from SAG-AFTRA’s rules which prevent stars from participating in promotional campaigns during the strikes.
“The stars can’t promote the movie, but the audience can,” Sony told NBC News of “Gran Turismo.”
Two other distribution companies, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (Amazon-owned) and Searchlight Pictures (Disney-owned), have also adjusted their release calendars.
The Zendaya tennis romance “Challengers” and the Emma Stone science fantasy film “Poor Things” have both been moved from September to December.
Sony has announced release dates for some of its other highly anticipated films, including the fourth installment of the “Bad Boys” series on June 14, 2024 and “Venom 3,” starring Tom Hardy, premiering on July 12, 2024.
Sony’s 2024 lineup also includes “Madame Web” in February, the “Ghostbusters” sequel in March, “Kraven the Hunter” in August, and a revamped “Karate Kid” movie in December.
