The breathtaking vocals of “Britain’s Got Talent” finalist Belinda Davids are framed with the accompaniment of a live band and backing vocalists, plus state-of-the-art sound, lighting, vision and theatrical effects in this two-hour production. Audiences enjoy a journey through Houston’s greatest hits, including “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “One Moment in Time,” “Greatest Love of All,” and others.

A ‘Dastardly’ deed
Director Laura Meyer’s production “The Dastardly Dr. Devereaux” opens at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and continues through Aug. 20 with performances at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at Footlight Players in Michigan City. In this musical stage melodrama, The evil Dogsbreath Devereaux, M.D. plans to marry wealthy widow Lotta Cash to inherit her fortune as he plots with the help of nasty nurse Hilda Hatchet, his true love. It’s up to hero character Dr. Phil Good to save the day while serving up silly songs like “Emergency,” “Do the Bob” and “How Do You Bandage a Broken Heart?”

Beverly Shores Depot Museum and Art Gallery presents Film Fest at the Crossroads at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso. Tickets are $25. At 104 Indiana Ave. on the main stage. 219-548-9137; memorialoperahouse.com.
Featuring films about Northwest Indiana along with a discussion with the filmmakers and local experts, the featured titles are: “Walkable U.S.A.,” directed by Tom Desch, about city planner Jeff Speck’s design to revitalize downtown Hammond; “Calumet: The Region’s River,” directed by Sam Love and Raymar Brunson; and “The Erosion Project,” directed by Jonathan Jackson about the erosion of beaches and communities along the Dunes area of Northwest Indiana.
