CLEVELAND (WJW) – Veterans Day 2024 falls on Monday, Nov. 11, and will be a day to honor and celebrate veterans and active military members nationwide.
Cities across Northeast Ohio are celebrating with parades, ceremonies and other events to honor our veterans. Fox 8 News has compiled a list of local events to attend:
Akron
The Akron Municipal Court and the Glendale Cemetery will cohost an in-person tribute on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. for Civil War Veteran Lewis P. Buckley. This tribute is the municipal court’s fifth year holding a November event to honor a local veteran.
The ceremony will take place in the Civil War Memorial Chapel on the Glendale property followed by a walking tour of the cemetery.
Beachwood
Cuyahoga County Public Library Veteran’s Day concert takes place on Nov. 11 from 3 – 4 p.m. at the Beachwood Branch of the library. Patriotic music will be performed by The High Notes.
Brunswick
American Legion Post 234 and VFW Post 9520 will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Brunswick City Hall.
Canton
The annual Veterans Day Event & Expo is being held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free admission will be offered to U.S service members, National Guard and veterans, plus a guest. Click here for more details.
Chagrin Falls
Chagrin Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars is holding a Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Triangle Park and the Chagrin Falls Fire Department.
Cleveland
The Cleveland Veterans Day Ceremony takes place at the Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. – noon.
Green
The Green Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Veterans Memorial Park on Nov. 11 starting at 10:30 a.m.
Mansfield
A Veterans Day Parade will be held on Nov. 11 starting at 10:30 a.m. The parade will start on Park Ave. West and continue East to the Gazebo in Central Park. A Veterans Day program at the Gazebo.
Mentor
The Mentor Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at 11:11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery memorial promenade.
North Canton
The North Canton Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. – noon at Bitzer Park.
Oberlin
A Veterans Day Appreciation Ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11 inside the Oberlin Elementary School gymnasium.
The event will feature keynote speakers with speeches and musical selections by the student band and choir. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
Wadsworth
The Wadsworth Veteran’s Day parade will be held on Nov. 11 starting at 10:50 a.m.
