KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One injured Chief might be back just in time for the final stretch of Kansas City’s push for a three-peat.
While Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was thought to be out for the entirety of the season, recent developments point in other directions. Brown injured his shoulder in week one of the preseason, and after undergoing surgery, was placed on the injured reserve and thought to be out for the year.
However, comments from head coach Andy Reid and a rather cryptic post on X from the speedy wideout have led KC fans to believe he may be back in time for the playoffs, maybe even before the regular season ends.
While taking questions from reporters, Reid mentioned that Brown’s recovery process has been going well. Reid also said that Brown is included in a list of players wanting to get back on the field for Kansas City, like Isaiah Pacheco, Charles Omenihu and more.
“Making very good progress,” Reid said on Hollywood Brown’s status.
“I can’t tell you a time when he’ll be back, but here’s another one that’s excited to get back out here and get going. I appreciate the way he’s approached this whole thing.”
Brown added fuel to the fire on X, posting a single clock emoji. On its own, this post might not have garnered much serious attention, but paired with Reid’s comments, the post sent KC fans into a frenzy.
Additionally, ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler reported earlier last week that the next few weeks will probably decide Brown’s status for the rest of the season.
“And the Chiefs haven’t totally ruled out a return for Hollywood Brown (shoulder) at some point. Kansas City coaches have been checking in with him, and the picture should become more clear over the next three to four weeks,” he said.
With Pacheco looking to get back into the Chiefs’ offense in the coming weeks and the additions of Kareem Hunt and DeAndre Hopkins, a Hollywood Brown return could elevate the struggling Chiefs offense just in time for the most important part of the season.
