Critics Choice Awards Rescheduled as Wildfires Rage On

The Critics Choice Awards have officially been rescheduled.
Originally set for Sunday, January 12, the event will now take place on Sunday, January 26 due to the ongoing wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
The ceremony is still set to take place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California and will be hosted by Chelsea Handler for the third year in a row. It will air live on E! with a later streaming option on Peacock.

In a statement on Wednesday, January 8, the Critics Choice Association explained that the decision was made in response to the “catastrophic fires ravaging Southern California.” CCA CEO Joey Berlin expressed sympathy for those impacted by the devastating fires, saying, “This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected.”
The BAFTA Tea Party, scheduled for Saturday, January 11, and the AFI Awards, originally planned for Friday, January 10, have also been postponed due to the wildfires. In a statement, a representative for the BAFTA Tea Party,confirmed the cancellation to TV Line, stating, “The safety of our colleagues, friends and peers in Los Angeles remains our utmost priority, and our thoughts are with everyone impacted.”
Several other events, including premieres for Wolfman, Unstoppable, Better Man, The Pitt, and On Call, have also been canceled or postponed. The upcoming SAG Awards nominations, originally set for a live broadcast, were revealed through an online press release instead.

Many celebrities, including Spencer Pratt, Anna Faris, and Adrien Brody, have unfortunately lost their homes due to the rapidly spreading wildfires, with many other Angelenos under evacuation orders. The fires – including the Palisades fire in Pacific Palisades, the Hurst fire in San Fernando Valley, and the Eaton fire near Altadena – erupted on Tuesday, January 7, and have caused widespread concern as they continue to spread across the region.
