On Friday night, “Saturday Night Live” celebrated 50 years on the air with a salute to its musical guests.
Filmed live at Radio City Music Hall, “SNL50: Homecoming” featured performances from Jack White, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Backstreet Boys, Arcade Fire, and more. Lorne Michaels and Mark Ronson produced the big event. The show was hosted by onetime “SNL” cast member Jimmy Fallon, who had a mini “SNL” reunion of his own this week on “The Tonight Show” when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler joined him.
It’s all part of a valedictory year for “SNL,” which has also seen a narrative film about the show’s first episode come out, as well as an acclaimed Peacock docuseries, “SNL50.” For those interested in more details about the musical guests, there’s also “Ladies and Gentlemen… 50 years of SNL Music,” a three hour documentary directed by Questlove and available to stream on Peacock.
