The Smoke Alarm Blitz takes place Saturday in Hollywood Hills community, near Fairfield Road in north Columbia
COLUMBIA, S.C. — If you hear a knock at your door Saturday morning and look out to see a fireman, he or she is there to make sure you have a working smoke alarm installed in your home.
It’s all a part of Columbia-Richland Fire Department’s Smoke Alarm Blitz, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 22. Members of the fire department, along with SC State Fire and volunteers from The Red Cross, will be going door-to-door in the Hollywood Hills Community offering free smoke alarm installations for area residents and offering tips for home fire safety.
After gathering at the Crane Creek Community Center at 9 a.m. Saturday, the group plans to visit homes along Stanford Street, Hillvale Drive, Larchwood Drive, Beaver Brook Road, and other nearby streets near Fairfield Road.
