As bids continue for the sale of Warner Bros. Discovery, Comcast is proposing the creation of a new entertainment company that would merge Warner Bros. with NBCUniversal.

Warner Bros. Discovery hit the auction block on November 20, putting the likes of HBO, CNN, basic cable channels, and the Warner Bros. film and television studios in Burbank up for sale. Paramount, Comcast, and Netflix all submitted bids. While Paramount is bidding for everything, both Comcast and Netflix only want HBO and the California studios.
According to reports from the Los Angeles Times, Comcast’s proposal is to create a new , standalone company by combining NBCUniversal, HBO, and the studios, bringing several new properties under Universal’s umbrella that could be sourced for its theme parks.
Industry analysts have forecast a potential Warner Bros. and NBCUniversal merger since as early as 2022.
All three companies submitted second-round proposals to Warner Bros. on Monday, December 1. Warner Bros. Discovery says it plans to choose the winner this month.
