BAY CITY, MI – A look at the high school sports scene in the Bay City area for Dec. 16, 2025. Bay City area coaches are asked to submit results, highlights and comments the night of each game by emailing lthomps2@mlive.com.
GIRLS BKB: BEAVERTON 72, PINCONNING 28
It’s tough to contend with a 20-point scorer.
And there are very few answers when they come in pairs.
Beaverton brought its dazzling 1-2 scoring punch of Myah Hubble and Taryn Roberts to Pinconning, putting on a display of point production for a 72-28 victory.
“We came into tonight ready to play,” Beaverton coach Jason Hubble said.
Myah Hubble finished second in the area in scoring a year ago and showed she hasn’t lost that shooting touch with a season-high 27-point outburst. The arrival of Roberts on the varsity scene makes Beaverton an overwhelming challenge, particularly when the freshman is putting 23 points on the board as she did Tuesday.

Beaverton (3-0, 2-0) led 28-12 after one quarter then put the Jack Pine Conference-2 game on ice with a 29-7 third-quarter spree. The Beavers connected on 18 of 20 free throws.
“They took it to us tonight, so give them credit,” Pinconning coach Duane Pitts said. “We will make some corrections and get headed in the right direction.”
Layla Foco delivered 11 points and six rebounds for the Spartans.
GIRLS BKB: MOUNT PLEASANT 57, BAY CITY CENTRAL 13
The going got tough for Bay City Central as Mount Pleasant roared to a 57-13 victory in the Saginaw Valley League North matchup.
Brynn Corrion scored eight points, sinking four of Central’s five field goals in the contest. The Wolves (0-3, 0-2) trailed 46-5 at the half.
Mount Pleasant was paced by Lexi Borodychuk with 14 points and Morgan Borodychuk with 12.
BOYS BKB: MOUNT PLEASANT 39, JOHN GLENN 31
John Glenn did what it took defensively, but its offense never joined the fun.
Despite holding Mount Pleasant under 40 points, the Bobcats came up short in a 39-31 non-conference loss.
“Mount Pleasant came out extremely aggressive and got us down,” Glenn coach Derrek Clyde said. “We told the guys ‘We’ve got two options: We can go or we can continue to let this thing spiral.’ And they responded.
“We played some really good defense, but it just wasn’t our night offensively, which is going to happen sometimes.”
After trailing 8-0 out of the chute, Glenn played even the rest of the way, down 20-12 at the half and 32-25 through three quarters. Danzell Calhoun led the Bobcats (2-2) with nine points and Dylan Wood added eight.
Xavier Cregeur led Mount Pleasant with 18 points.
GIRLS BKB: MIO 60, BOYNE CITY 49
Mia McGregor hit the 40-point mark for the 25th time in her prep career, powering Mio to a 60-49 victory over Boyne City.
The two-time Division 4 Player of the Year dropped in a season-high 44 points in the win. She packed the stat sheet with 18 rebounds, seven blocked shots and six assists.
Serenity Shattuck notched 10 points and five rebounds for the Thunderbolts (3-0).
GIRLS BKB: AU GRES 61, WHITTEMORE 5
Au Gres didn’t allow a point in the first half, steamrolling Whittemore-Prescott 61-5 in their North Star League crossover.
“Our girls played really hard and really unselfish,” Au Gres coach Tom Fox said.
Au Gres had five players with eight or more points in the win. Sophie Fox notched 18 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double while Analeis Ming made a run at a triple-double with 10 points, eight steals and eight assists.
Kendall Ososki added 14 points, Adelaide Bauer 11 and Charlotte Ming eight. Whittemore-Prescott failed to score in all but the third quarter.
