When it comes to spearheading impactful content that viewers can resonate with and see themselves in, Tina Perry, President of OWN, knows precisely what she’s doing.
As one of the few Black women presidents of a notable television network, Perry prioritizes leading with strategic vision, focusing on scalability in programming and brand innovation at OWN. The network is home to culturally influential and resonant content like ‘Queen Sugar,’ ‘Ready to Love,’ ‘Love & Marriage,’ ‘Belle Collective,’ and their newest addition, ‘The Inside Fix,’ featuring renowned spiritual coach and bestselling author, Iyanla Vanzant.
Since Perry joined OWN Network in 2019, she’s made it her mission to center unique and in-depth content that not only brings Black women to the forefront but also uplifts, honors, and cherishes them. Aside from revolutionizing OWN’s content, she’s also focused on strengthening the network’s viability and legacy in the ever-changing media landscape.
By partnering with relevant and minority production companies like Jessie Collins Entertainment, veteran reality television producer Carlos King’s Kingdom Reign, and Will Packer Productions, OWN plans to give its audiences television series that are not only fresh and current but also relatable, and to continue that approach for their 2026 series slate and programming.
Perry’s love of storytelling came honestly. She’s from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and tells me that her family had no connection to the entertainment industry. When she left her hometown to attend Stanford University, she deepened her interest in culture, cinema, and storytelling.
