YouTube Music is the second most used music streaming platform after Spotify, but it seems the former is losing its charm due to AI slop. Most of the YouTube Music users pay for the paid plan to enjoy premium features, like personalized recommendations. But, according to multiple user reports on Reddit, spotted by folks at PiunikaWeb, it appears that YouTube Music is failing to deliver in that department.
These days, anyone can generate anything using AI; music is one of them. The worrying part is that these audio streaming giants host these type of content on their platforms. Instead of curating personalized music recommendations for YouTube Music subscribers, the platform is recommending AI-generated music.
Users report that these AI tracks often come from unknown artists with massive catalog and generic titles. No wonder, users are fuming. The worst part is that even after tapping the “Not Interested” or thumbs-down, such AI tracks are repeatedly being seen by paid users.
Some users also claim that YouTube Music removes single track by doing that. However, it is later replaced by a similar kind of AI tracks. That’s not all; sometimes the same “unknown” artists continue to show up across different tracks and autoplay sessions.
It’s not the first-time users have complained about AI slop in music streaming platform. Many still report that Spotify has similar issues. As of now, there’s no word from Google on this matter. But, as a precaution, it’s best that you try to manage your playlist carefully.
