While it can be argued that Stardew Valley is already a pretty amazing game with a plethora of things to do, NPCs to romance, and goals to achieve, it’s been out for a long time. Devoted fans of the game have likely already achieved total completion multiple times over and could be looking for something new to make Pelican Town a little more exciting. That’s where mods like “Stardew Valley Expanded” can save the day.
Over the years, there have been many different Stardew Valley mods created by the talented community that enhance the game in different ways to add replayability with a fresh experience. Some may be as simple as recoloring items or changing some dialogue. Others, like “Stardew Valley Expanded,” add so much more than that, essentially making a full expansion to the game with new areas, NPCs, fish, music, festivals, and more.
Stardew Valley Expanded Is Unofficial But Unmissable
This PC Mod Adds So Much More To Stardew Valley
“Stardew Valley Expanded” is a fan-made expansion for Stardew Valley that is available on Nexus Mods. Unlike some mods that can get a bit fantastical in their approaches to changing the game, this one builds on ConcernedApe’s original vision of Stardew Valley so well that it feels as though it were an official expansion.
The mod adds:
28 additional NPCs
58 locations
278 character events
43 fish
Three farm maps
New music
New quests and objectives
Festivals
Crops
Objects
And much more
Many of these new NPCs come with dynamic dialogue, animations, events, and more to make them key personalities in the world. According to the mod’s creator, “Stardew Valley Expanded” is for players who have already played through the vanilla version of Stardew Valley so that they re-experience “the magical feeling they had when they first played Stardew Valley.”
Mods such as “Stardew Valley Expanded” only work on the PC version of Stardew Valley.
Although mods are unofficial additions to the game that are made by the community and are not ConcernedApe’s work, he has been very supportive of the modding community. In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), he stated, “I don’t mind at all, I love that there’s a huge modding community around the game.”
If You Need More Stardew, This Is Your Fix
Of course, Stardew Valley will also be getting a massive 1.7 update sometime as well, which will add much more to the base game and is currently in development by ConcernedApe. Little has been revealed yet, but we know that there will be a new farm type, more character and social content, and a lot more, but the specifics have been vague.
For console players, this update will be even more important as mods like “Stardew Valley Expanded” aren’t designed for platforms like the Switch. Unfortunately, we don’t know when 1.7 will be released yet, with some estimates pointing to a 2027 launch.
So, in the meantime, if you’re starting to get a bit tired of hearing the same conversations from the same NPCs while doing the same tasks, mods like this could be the perfect way to reignite your passion for Stardew Valley.
