Who could forget Jodie Foster’s iconic performance in the original Freaky Friday movie? Someone apparently. In a recent interview, Foster revealed that the person who had forgotten about her famous role the most is not a person at all. It’s the all knowing Artificial Intelligence.
Foster, known for her iconic roles in films like The Silence of the Lambs and Taxi Driver, was the original Annabel in Disney’s classic Freaky Friday, which was released in 1976. Similar to the 2003 version, the film follows young Annabel and her mother Ellen who get in a heated argument on Friday the 13th. When the two magically swap bodies, they must navigate life in the other’s shoes, making for a comedic movie.
In an interview with Variety, Foster explains that when you ask ChatGPT, a popular AI software, about the franchise, the engine doesn’t mention her role at all. Instead, it claims that the original film is actually the 2003 remake starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The AI engine reports that the second film was the most recent 2025 remake. To ChatGPT, the 1976 film is nonexistent.
