The Harris Music Contest was created by the Hormel Historic Home in 2012 as part of their mission to further music appreciation and education for area youth. While initially a piano contest, melodic instruments were added as the contest expanded. The contest honors the memory and legacy of MarySue Hormel Harris, who continues to provide support for the Hormel Historic Home to offer musical opportunities to the community through their Music & Education Mission.
