LIVIGNO, Province of Sondrio — The Olympics are fully underway in Milan Cortina, and medals are being awarded Monday in women’s freeski slopestyle and women’s snowboarding big air finals.
The women’s freeski slopestyle final starts at 6:30 a.m. ET at Livigno Snow Park. The women’s snowboarding big air final begins at 1:30 p.m. ET.
The slopestyle course allows for jumps exceeding 80 feet in length, according to the Olympics. For big air events, the slop stands just over 160 feet tall for their competition. The park will also host ski cross and halfpipe events. The Olympics calls the park a “cutting-edge venue.”
Avery Krumme will compete for Team USA, as will American-born Eileen Gu, who competes for China and won silver in the event in 2022.
Krumme was the only woman on Team USA to qualify for finals after her second run finished her in fourth place. Grace Henderson placed 15th in the women’s slopestyle qualification and Marin Hamill finished in 16th out of 23.
The women’s snowboarding big air finals start at 1:30 p.m. No Americans qualified for the finals.
