Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton’s television venture on BET has been canceled.
First reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Rodney Ho, the show, which debuted Oct. 15, 2025, had an eight-episode run before BET decided to end it. In a statement sent to Ho, BET said no more seasons would be produced but that it would remain on the network’s streaming service BET+.
“106 & Sports,” filmed in Atlanta, was envisioned to follow the same format as the network’s iconic music show “106 & Park,” which ran for 14 years and was based in New York City.
Newton and co-host Ashley Nicole Moss, a CBS basketball host and analyst, discussed topics at the intersection of sports and culture.
Before the show debuted, Newton expressed excitement about hosting, particularly given its connection to the legacy of “106 & Park.”
“When I think about ’106 & Park,’ I remember how it was a voice for the culture,” Newton said in a Sept. 18, 2025, statement. “It gave artists and fans a place to connect. Now, we’re doing the same thing for sports. ’106 & Sports’ is where you’ll get the real talk, the authentic insights, and the kind of conversations you won’t find anywhere else. I’m excited to team up with Ashley and BET to build something special, something that honors that legacy while creating a new one.”

“Looking online over the weekend at how the last episode of this was, and yup, it was always dead on arrival,” the user wrote.
