Taylor Swift – “folklore” & “evermore”
Taylor Swift has collaborated with Aaron Dessner on many a song and album, her first being one of two surprise 2020 albums, folklore. The summer-set album was mostly recorded by Swift in her home studio, but she worked with Dessner, who produced from his Long Pond studio.
Evermore, the wintery twin of folklore, had a majority of composition at Long Pond after Swift, Dessner and Jack Antonoff when their to record some folklore sessions. The “Long Pond Studio sessions” for folklore are available to stream on Spotify as well as Disney+.
Swift has continued to work with Dessner on her following albums like Midnights — the twelve a.m. tracks of which were largely produced with Dessner — as well as the latter half of her The Tortured Poets Department complete anthology album.
Ed Sheeran – “-“ (“Subtract”)
Swift introduced her longtime friend and collaborator, Ed Sheeran, to Aaron Dessner, and they then worked on his album, –, which is pronounced “Subtract.”
The National multi-instrumentalist also produced Sheeran’s Autumn Variations, which Sheeran put out via his own music label, Gingerbread Man Records.
He’s made giant pop records that are easy to criticize, but on a human and artistic level, he’s so gifted and lovely,” Dessner told The Guardian. “It couldn’t have been more natural, fun, and rewarding to feel him jumping off the cliff with me. Over time, I’ve tired of the ‘what’s cool?’ debate.”
