Looks like this summer is shaping up to be a super nostalgic one for Gen X music lovers.
Two super popular ’90s bands are teaming up again after last year’s successful co-headlining tour, and fans are already excited about the upcoming jaunt. As announced in an Instagram post this week, Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms are hitting the road in July. Not only that, but they’ll be joined by another chart-topping group from back in the day as an opening act: Spin Doctors.
“BLUES TRAVELER + GIN BLOSSOMS + SPIN DOCTORS! Back by popular Demand! We had such a blast year we are bringing it back to all the places we missed Spin Gin Traveler,” read the caption on the post, which featured a graphic with members from all three bands and a list of tour dates.
Commenters were definitely enthusiastic about the news.
“Damn, doing it again can’t wait,” one fan wrote, with a second adding, “Another epic summer tour!”
As the post noted, the tour kicks off in Grand Junction, Colorado on July 6 and will visit cities including Los Angeles, Atlantic City, Boston, NYC and Atlanta before wrapping up in Traverse City, Michigan, on Sept. 19. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. local time, but presale tickets are available starting today, Jan. 21, with the code BTGB2026. (Ticket links can be found at BluesTraveler.com/tour.)
“It’s rare when a package feels so much like home that it carries a spirit which becomes tangible to an audience,” Blues Traveler frontman John Popper said in a statement shared with American Songwriter, adding, “We’ve decided to take this show everywhere we missed last year.”
Jesse Valenzuela of Gin Blossoms is ‘grateful’ for his band’s loyal fans
In an interview with CleveRock.com last year, Gin Blossoms guitarist Jesse Valenzuela expressed his gratitude for the band’s fans and their continued loyalty over the years.
“I think we’re relevant with our fan base and relevant with people who have grown up with us. We’re thankful for that,” he said. “We’re grateful for the Summertime tours, and people come to our shows. We’re still playing 60 shows a year; sometimes 65. It all changes. I mean, what is relevant to us is relevant; there is different relevance for 20-year-olds and 25-year-olds.”
“But for everyone who still appreciates the Gin Blossoms and likes the music, I’m thankful I get to play music for a living,” Valenzuela continued. “I get to play golf with Alice Cooper once in a while, and he says the same thing. He’s like, if you see a show of his, he enjoys playing, and he’s still great at it.”
Fans would say the same thing about Valenzuela’s own band, no doubt.
