Los Angeles Fire department crews were able to contain the blazes to about quarter-acre of vegetation, according to spokesman Nicholas Prange. The first blaze was triggered by a two-vehicle collision in the 3000 block of North Lake Hollywood Drive shortly before 3 p.m.
“Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision, which appears to have caused the initial brush fire. Firefighters extinguished the quarter-acre fire in medium brush, before locating another spot fire approximately 100 yards away from the original fire,” Prange said. “Crews transitioned to the second burn and surrounded that one, achieving extinguishment of both in a total of 53 minutes.”
