The Marvels, a sequel to Captain Marvel, and Christmas horror-comedy It’s a Wonderful Knife are set to release on November 10.
November 17 will see the release of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Thanksgiving (a slasher movie), Trolls Band Together (an animated musical comedy), Next Goal Wins (a biographical sports comedy-drama), and May December (a dark comedy-drama).
November 2023 will see the release of some of this year’s most anticipated movies, such as Sofia Coppola’s latest project, a new adventure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, two holiday-themed slasher movies, a new Hunger Games story, Disney’s latest animated movie, and a lot more. October saw a variety of movies arriving in theaters, with a good dose of horror with The Exorcist: Believer, Dear David, and Five Nights at Freddy’s, as well as drama with Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and even a dose of music with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Out of October’s theatrical releases, only the legal drama The Burial is now available to stream on Prime Video, while Killers of the Flower Moon is set to stream on Apple TV+ at a still unknown date. November will bring a variety of movies from different genres, of which some will be available to stream at a later date. November will welcome two slasher movies focused on two different holidays, the story of Priscilla Presley, Disney’s newest animated adventure, Ridley Scott’s latest project, and a biographical movie directed by and starring Bradley Cooper.
13 What Happens Later – November 3
What Happens Later is a rom-com directed by Meg Ryan. When their flights get delayed due to a snowstorm, ex-lovers Willa (Ryan) and Bill (David Duchovny) cross paths and realize they are still attracted to each other, but they are also still annoyed with each other. Due to the snowstorm, Willa and Bill spend the night at the airport reliving their past and wondering if their reunion was a coincidence or if it was meant to be.
12 Priscilla – November 3

Priscilla is a biographical drama movie directed by Sofia Coppola and based on the 1985 memoir Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon. Priscilla follows the life of Priscilla Beaulieu (Cailee Spaeny) and her relationship with Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi), from the moment they met to the many ups and downs in their famous relationship. Also starring in Priscilla are Dagmara Domińczyk, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Luke Humphrey, and Dan Beirne.
11 The Marsh King’s Daughter – November 3
The Marsh King’s Daughter is a psychological thriller directed by Neil Burger and based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Karen Dionne. The Marsh King’s Daughter tells the story of Helena Pelletier (Daisy Ridley), whose mother was abducted by the Marsh King (Ben Mendelsohn) two years before she was born, so she spent her childhood in captivity. When he breaks out of prison, Helena is convinced he will try to take her daughter, and so she sets out to outmaneuver the man who taught her how to survive in the wilderness. Also starring in The Marsh King’s Daughter are Garrett Hedlund, Caren Pistorius, Joey Carson, and Gil Birmingham.
10 The Marvels – November 10
The latest MCU adventure is The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta, and a sequel to Captain Marvel and a continuation of the TV miniseries Ms. Marvel. While investigating a wormhole linked to the Kree while working at S.W.O.R.D., Monica Rambeau’s (Teyonah Parris) powers become entangled with those of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani). Now, the three heroes will have to join forces to discover why they are swapping places with each other every time they use their powers, while also dealing with Kree warrior Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton).
9 It’s a Wonderful Knife – November 10
It’s a Wonderful Knife is a Christmas comedy-horror movie directed by Tyler MacIntyre. The Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life takes a turn in this story as Winnie Carruthers (Jane Widdop) saved her town from a psychotic killer on Christmas Eve the previous year, but she now wishes she had never been born. Winnie soon finds herself in an alternate universe where she doesn’t exist and thus the killer has killed many, many people. Also starring in It’s a Wonderful Knife are Joel McHale, Justin Long, William B. Davis, Jess McLeod, and Katharine Isabelle.
8 The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes – November 17
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a dystopian sci-fi action movie directed by Francis Lawrence and it’s based on the 2020 novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a prequel to The Hunger Games, and as such, it follows 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), the last hope for his fading lineage as his family has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. Prior to the 10th annual Hunger Games, Snow is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the tribute from District 12.
After Lucy defiantly sings during the ceremony, Snow and Lucy unite their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy to survive, revealing who is a songbird and who is a snake. Also starring in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes are Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, and Viola Davis.
7 Thanksgiving – November 17
Unlike what the title implies, Thanksgiving is a slasher movie directed by Eli Roth and based on his mock trailer of the same name from Grindhouse. After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a serial killer known as “John Carver” arrives in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with the intention of making a Thanksgiving carving board out of the town’s inhabitants. Starring in Thanksgiving are Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, and Jalen Thomas Brooks.
6 Trolls Band Together – November 17
Trolls Band Together is an animated musical comedy movie directed by Walt Dohrn and the third installment in the Trolls franchise. Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) and now a couple, but as they grow closer, Poppy learns that Branch has a secret past: he was once part of her favorite boyband, BroZone, with his brothers Floyd, John Dory, Spruce, and Clay. However, BroZone disbanded when Branch was a baby, and he hasn’t seen his brothers since then.
When Floyd is kidnapped for his musical talents, Branch and Poppy go on a mission to rescue Floyd and reunite the family. Also part of Trolls Band Together’s voice cast are Camila Cabello, Eric André, Troye Sivan, Kid Cudi, and Daveed Diggs.
5 Next Goal Wins – November 17
Next Goal Wins is a biographical sports comedy-drama movie directed by Taika Waititi and based on the 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison. Next Goal Wins follows Dutch American football coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender), who is faced with the option of being fired or converting the weakest team in the world, the American Samoa national team, into an elite squad – of course, he chooses the latter. Also starring in Next Goal Wins are Oscar Kigthley, Kaimana, David Fane, Rachel House, Will Arnett, Luke Hemsworth, and Elisabeth Moss.
4 May December – November 17
May December is a dark comedy-drama movie directed by Todd Haynes. Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Julianne Moore) and Joe Yoo (Charles Melton) are a married couple with a large age gap who became a notorious tabloid romance. Twenty years after the scandal, they are visited by Elizabeth Berry (Natalie Portman), an actress doing research as she’s going to play Gracie in a movie about her and Joe’s past, but the more she learns, the more disturbing everything becomes. May December will be released in selected theaters and will stream on Netflix on December 1, 2023.
3 Wish – November 22
Disney’s latest project is the animated musical Wish, directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn. Set in the Kingdom of Rosas, in the Iberian Peninsula, Wish follows Asha (voiced by Ariana DeBose), a 17-year-old girl who senses darkness that no one else does about the kingdom’s ruler, King Magnifico (Chris Pine). Asha makes a plea to the stars and one of them answers her wish, and when the star falls from the sky, it’s revealed that it has magical powers to grant wishes, so Star and Asha go on a mission to fight for a better future for the people of Rosas. Also part of the voice cast of Wish are Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Evan Peters, and Harvey Guillén.
2 Napoleon – November 22
Napoleon is an epic historical drama movie directed by Ridley Scott. Based on the story of political leader Napoleon Bonaparte, Napoleon depicts his rise to power – from Napoleon’s origins to his historic battles – through the lens of his volatile relationship with Empress Joséphine. Starring in Napoleon are Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte, Vanessa Kirby as Empress Joséphine, Tahar Rahim as Paul Barras, Ben Miles as Caulaincourt, Matthew Needham as Lucien Bonaparte, and Rupert Everett as Arthur Wellesley. Napoleon will stream on Apple TV+ at an unknown date.
1 Maestro – November 22

Maestro is a biographical drama movie directed by Bradley Cooper. Maestro chronicles the story of American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein (Bradley Cooper), who falls in love with Costa Rican actress Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan) after meeting at a party in 1946. Bernstein and Montealegre’s love story spanned over three decades, and they went through many ups and downs together through the years. Also starring in Maestro are Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke, Sarah Silverman, and Michael Urie. Maestro will have a limited theatrical release before streaming on Netflix on December 20, 2023.
