It seems the “heat” generated by a certain HBO Max show just cannot be stopped.
Now that season 1 of Heated Rivalry has concluded, lead singles from its beloved soundtrack are making their way onto some of the latest Billboard charts (dated Jan. 24), the music magazine reports.
Two songs by Peter Peter — “It’s You” and “Rivalry” — have debuted on Billboard’s all-genre Digital Song Sales and Dance Digital Song Sales charts, respectively, following their release on Jan. 9.
The electronic-dance track “Rivalry,” which opens the hit show’s soundtrack album, sits at No. 3 on the Dance Digital Song Sales survey. Meanwhile, Peter Peter’s “It’s You,” which is featured in the second episode, has launched at No. 19 on Digital Song Sales. It’s the only track on the soundtrack album to include vocals, Billboard also noted on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
After Billboard promoted the exciting Heated Rivalry news in an Instagram post, fans flooded the comments section to show their support for the songs — and the series, of course. “BRAVO!!!!!!👏🏽,” wrote one user, while another person commented, “thebesttttttt❤️.”
Performed, written and produced by Peter Peter, the two songs mark the Billboard chart debut for the Canadian musician. His full, 34-track score soundtrack to season 1 of Heated Rivalry — which has already been renewed for a second installment — was released on Jan. 16.
The show, meanwhile, premiered in the U.S. back on Nov. 28 thanks to HBO Max. It’s set the high-stakes world of professional hockey and follows rival stars Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) who have a chance hook-up that evolves into a secret, years-long love affair. The series is based on the bestselling novels by Rachel Reid.
