Reports of outages for Apple Music on the service tracking website Downdetector spiked late Jan. 20, suggesting the music streaming service may be experiencing a disruption.
The website reported that, as of just after 8 p.m. ET, over 1,000 reports of outages have been made – a large spike from its reported baseline of two reports. Reports to Downdetector have leveled off to around 850 as of 10 p.m. ET.
Downdetector’s outage tracking map shows the reports are concentrated around New York City, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
Apple’s system status page does not show that Apple Music is experiencing an outage, but it shows outages for the App Store, Apple TV, iTunes store and Maps traffic.
Outage reports for Apple TV and Apple Support to Downdetector spiked briefly, with Apple TV seeing over 3,000 reported outages just after 9:30 p.m. ET. However, the site shows reports for Apple TV falling to around 1,600 just before 10 p.m. ET.
USA TODAY has reached out to Apple for comment on the issue.
The outage comes on the heels of the massive Verizon outage that struck in a similar swath of the country.
This is a developing story.
