The Village of Baldwin and the Wenger Pavilion Committee will host the the Baldwin Summer Concert Series, “Sounds of the Forest/ Echo Through the Timber” on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 7 to 9:15 p.m., at the Wenger Pavilion in Baldwin. On July 29, Planet D Nonet, the award winning swinging “Lil’ Big Band” from Detroit will perform. On Aug. 2, Evidence, a quintet playing hard bop to contemporary Latin sounds will perform. On Aug. 5, Metro Soul Band will perform Motown, R&B and soul music. For a full concert schedule, visit baldwinsummerconcerts.org.
The Pathfinder Community Library in Baldwin is hosting a Summer Reading Contest for kids from 0 to 12th grade through the month of July. Weekly Dairy Queen certificates will be given to those who read books checked out from the library. Cash prizes will be given out at the end of the month to those who read the most books in their age group: 0-5; 1st-2nd grade; 3rd-4th grade; 5th-6th grade; 7th-8th grade; 9th-12th grade. Weekly reading logs are available at the front desk. All reading logs must be returned by July 31. Winners will be contacted Aug. 1.
The Luther Lion’s Club will host an all you can eat breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., Aug. 6 at 1003 State St., Luther. Breakfast will include pancakes, French toast, waffles, sausage, ham, biscuits & gravy, juice and coffee. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 12.
The Lake County Garden Club will host a silent auction fundraiser starting at 6 p.m., Aug. 10 at the Lake County Historical Museum, 915 N. Michigan Ave., Baldwin. Proceeds will support community beautification efforts.
The Lake County Historical Museum will host Folk Fridays free outdoor concerts starting at 7 p.m. at 915 N. Michigan Ave., Baldwin. Small Potatoes (Rich and Jaquie) will perform on Aug. 11. Admission is free. Bring a lawn chair or remain in your car.
The VFW Post 5315 will host a free community outdoor concert and veterans event on Aug. 12 at 2225 M-37, Baldwin. Gates will open at 2 p.m. Headliner The Briar Payne Band will begin at 4 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. There will be concessions, corn hole, activities and prizes, as well as post tours and information for veterans.
The Luther Lion’s Club will host the Feed America food truck starting at 3 p.m., Aug. 17 at 1003 State St., Luther. Line up in the parking lot before 3 p.m.
The 1901 Martin Johnson Home and 1901 Eden Township Unit One-room School are open for tours from noon to 3 p.m., Saturdays through the end of August at Skinner Park, 10 1/2 Mile Road, Irons. The Lake County Sportsman’s Club will host Ladies Night of Shooting from 6:30 to 8 p.m., the third Thursday of each month through Oct. 19, at 7249 McKinley Rd., Baldwin. Maximum of 8 ladies per class. A safety class at 6:30 p.m. is mandatory before shooting. Cost is $5 per night per person for non-members. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5315 will host a community food auction beginning at 2 p.m., every third Saturday of the month, at 2225 S M-37, Baldwin. Public is welcome. This is a great opportunity to stock up on some great deals! For more information call 231-745-2134.

The Salvation Army of Big Rapids has opened a Fresh Start Baby Pantry for families with children under age 5 in Mecosta, Osceola, Lake and Newaygo counties. Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information visit sabigrapids.org.
