Rapper Nicki Minaj, the new MAGA “it girl” said she decided to get politically involved after seeing the “bullying” that President Donald Trump went through during the 2024 election campaign.
Minaj’s rise in Trump world began when she joined forces with United Nations ambassador Mike Waltz in speaking out against the persecution of Christians in Nigeria last November. Since then the “Starships” artist has gone on to grace the stage of Turning Point USA’s Americafest and was photographed holding Trump’s hand at the Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit.
She joined Katie Miller, the host of “The Katie Miller Podcast” and the wife of White House advisor Stephen Miller, for a conversation which touched on her decision to become more political, according to an excerpt obtained by Fox News Digital.
“Religious freedom is something that’s very important to me,” Minaj said.
“But if I’m being honest, President Trump because when I saw how he was being treated over and over and over, I just couldn’t handle it.”
Minaj said she empathized with Trump as he faced countless attacks.
“I felt that same, you know, a lot of that bullying in this man’s campaign, and all of the lying,” Minaj continued.
“I felt that that had been done to me for so many years, and I was watching it in real time happen to someone else, and I didn’t think he deserved it. And it made me think, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’”
However, Minaj shared that she’d always known that she would become involved in the political realm.
“I used to always tell people this when I was growing up, but like, I had this strong premonition my whole life that I had a second job to do. And this was, by the way, this was before I even made it in rap,” Minaj shared.
Since aligning herself with the Trump administration, Minaj has garnered blow back from prominent voices in the entertainment industry.
Comedian Trevor Noah made a joke that Minaj was not present at the Grammys because she was at the White House with Trump discussing “very important issues.”
“Actually Nicki, I have the biggest a**, everybody’s saying it Nicki,” Noah said in his Trump impression.
