The release date for Only Murders in the Building season 4 has finally been confirmed. Debuting in August 2021, the series follows three Arconia residents who are true-crime enthusiasts and become friends while investigating a spate of murders in their apartment building and producing a podcast about it. The show, starring Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short, has received critical acclaim since its run. Only Murders in the Building season 4 is highly anticipated, with the next case following Sazz’s (Jane Lynch) shocking death at the end of season 3.
While attending Disney Upfront, Hulu has finally provided a release date for season 4. The show will return on August 27, with new episodes to air every Tuesday. Martin, Short, and Gomez also shared the trailer for Only Murders in the Building season 4, giving a sneak peek of the upcoming season and its new and returning stars. These big names include Meryl Streep, Melissa McCarthy, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis.
How Might Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Pan Out?
Will Sazz’s Murder Be Solved?
Based on the new teaser trailer for Only Murders in the Building season 4, the show will pick up straight after the events of the season 3 finale. Season 3 wrapped up with the case of Ben’s (Paul Rudd) murder, only for Charles’ (Martin) friend and body double Sazz to be shot and killed with a bullet that may have been intended for him. Season 4 will explore this storyline, as the trio’s investigation leads them to Hollywood while bringing them into contact with residents of Arconia’s West Tower.

The stakes are incredibly high as the investigative trio will need to use their impeccable crime-solving skills to figure out who killed their friend while also being invested in other adventures. The teaser confirms that their podcast could turn into a movie, which sets their reason for going to Los Angeles. This eases some of the developments teased at the end of season 3, with Loretta (Streep) seemingly making her move to Hollywood, while Oliver could join her along the way to maintain their relationship. Furthermore, Lynch confirmed that Sazz will appear in at least five episodes, mostly in flashbacks.
Season 4 will also be the show’s most star-studded cast yet, emulating the Hollywood glam the trio will face in their upcoming adventures. The teaser did not provide any further hints as to who possibly killed Sazz and whether Charles was the actual target. However, this can be speculated given Charles’ long acting career. Nevertheless, Mabel, Oliver, and Charles have another case on their hands in Only Murders in the Building, with season 4 only just a few months away.
