SAN DIEGO, CA — “Paw Patrol” is on a roll — and rolling back into San Diego.
Chase, Marshall, Skye and the rest of the pups featured in the popular animated children’s television show will take to the stage for four “pawsome” live stage shows Saturday and Sunday at San Diego Civic Theatre. “Paw Patrol Live! Heroes Unite” is an interactive live stage show, where audience members get to be heroes unleashed, helping the pups as honorary members of the pack, while they navigate the globe to make it back to Adventure Bay.
“‘Paw Patrol Live! Heroes Unite’ follows Ryder and the Paw Patrol as they face their greatest challenge yet,” said Dante Brattelli, a Philadelphia-based performer, director and choreographer, who joined the cast in July. “It’s Top Heroes Day and Robo Dog is making his stage debut,” he added. “When Mayor Humdinger clones Robo Dog, chaos ensues across the world, so it’s up to Ryder and the Paw Patrol to stop Mayor Humdinger, rescue Robo Dog, and learn what it means to be a top hero.”
The show features a musical score and visual effects to encourage kids to sing and dance along with Ryder and the Paw Patrol pups, which are played by actors wearing dog costumes. Each child is also given a pup tag at the start of the show. “We know that 90 minutes is a long time for kids to sit still, so we do encourage them to get up and sing and dance with us,” Brattelli told Patch. “We hope that they will jump into action when asked by the Paw Patrol for some extra special help.”
Brattelli serves as a “swing” in the production, which means he plays different characters as needed, including Chase, Marshall, Rubble and Mayor Humdinger.
“It was a lot to learn, but it is really rewarding to get to — at some point — be everyone’s favorite pup,” he said.
