A 24-year-old man renting a room in a Queens house was fatally stabbed by a relative of his landlord during a clash over loud music early Sunday, police sources said.
Byron Lema Naula was stabbed in the neck inside a house on 35th Ave. near 102nd St. in Corona about 6:05 a.m., cops said.
Medics rushed Lema Naula to Elmhurst Hospital but he could not be saved.
Cops took a man into custody for questioning and recovered a knife. Both men live in the building and were clashing over loud music and banging, according to police sources.
Neighbors said new tenants often come and go from the house and the residents often have weekend barbecues.
“There’s a lot of people going in and out, lot of new faces,” said a 45-year-old neighbor who gave his name as Joe. “They were on the younger side, liked to party.”
Devin Chen, 30, whose aunt owns the house, called the place “peaceful.”
“They rent that place out,” he said of his family. “It’s a normal house, two-family house … I want to know what happened…. It’s been peaceful.”
Neighbor Luis Istambay, 38, said he’s never heard of any problems between the victim and landlord.
“He’s nice. No problems,” he said of Lema Naula. “He would say hi and bye.”
The killing marks the first homicide this year in Queens’ 115th Precinct, which saw four slayings in all of 2024, according to NYPD statistics.
