EXCLUSIVE: Here’s your first look at Rise of the Footsoldier: Vengeance, the latest edition in the cult British crime franchise from producer Andrew Loveday.
Nick Nevern directs from a screenplay by Loveday and Jason Maza. Signature Entertainment is launching the pic in cinemas and has set a September 15 release date. We understand the company is pushing for an expansive theatrical window, placing the film on up to 300 screens across the UK.
Set largely in early 90s Soho, London, the pic follows Pat Tate (Craig Fairbrass), who embarks on a rampage to avenge his loyal and trusted footsoldier’s violent death, venturing beyond his comfort zone of Essex into the dark side of 90s Soho to track down the villain responsible. Set to execute his revenge, Tate will stop at nothing even as the world around him starts to explode.
Also starring are Jamie Foreman (Layer Cake), George Russo (Rise of the Footsoldier: Origins), Ben Wilson (Wednesday), Stephen McCole (Vigil), Sadie Frost (Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Tara Fitzgerald (Legend), ArrDee, Josh Myers (Fighting With My Family), Emily Wyatt (The Last Heist), Geoff Bell (RocknRolla), Anthony Skordi (The Offer) and Phil Davis (Vera Drake).
“The scale and cinematic vision has been pushed to the limit with this film. I am extremely proud of it and the crew that worked tirelessly to make it all happen,” said Nevern. “Vengeance is, without doubt, the biggest Footsoldier film yet, with a standout cast that showcases the very best in British independent film. It’s been a pleasure working closely with Signature again on the release.”
Loveday added: “Rise of the Footsoldier was never intended to be a franchise — it was demand from the fans that fuelled this journey. The fans are immersed in the characters and want more and more. We intend to deliver bigger and bolder movies going forward, building one of the UK’s biggest crime film franchises with our partners at Signature.”
