Donald Trump will host a special competition called the Patriot Games for America’s 250th anniversary, inviting “the greatest high school athletes” — one teenage boy and one teenage girl from each state and territory — to compete in a four-day athletic competition sometime in the fall of 2026. Everyone’s wondering: did he hear the news of the new The Hunger Games movie and think, “Good idea”?
To make a bad idea worse, Trump added: “I promise there will be no men playing in women’s sports. You’re not going to see that. You’ll see anything but that.” He made that clarification in a video promoting Freedom 250, the “bipartisan initiative” planning the event. There’s nothing else on the official website giving any more details about what the Patriot Games will entail, but it’ll probably be updated once Trump watches Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
