Amazon Prime Video has more movies available to stream than almost any other streaming service, meaning there’s plenty to find this week, with New Year’s closing in. With a new year closing in, many people are ready to close the door in 2025 and move forward, hoping for the best. That means finding movies that help with those feelings.
Prime Video has everything to choose from, with a wide variety of genres ranging from comedies and dramas to action flicks, horror movies, and animated masterpieces. There is truly something on Prime Video for everyone. However, with so many movies, it is often hard to find the perfect one, so we have chosen three great films for everyone’s taste.
The Naked Gun (2025)
The 2025 reboot of The Naked Gun franchise will allow anyone to ring in 2026 with a lot of laughs. Liam Neeson takes the lead role as the son of the original detective Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen). While he doesn’t have the same comic timing as his predecessor, Neeson does a great job at delivering his dry comic zingers.
The story doesn’t matter, as the entire purpose of The Naked Gun is to deliver a mystery that is primarily solved thanks to Drebin’s ineptitude. The reason to watch these movies is to laugh at the absurd situations, the double-entendres, and the great misunderstandings that lead to the most ridiculous moments imaginable.
The Naked Gun has an 87% Rotten Tomatoes score, proving that this remake hit the mark, and it is very much a comedy that fans should revisit as 2026 rolls in.
Knives Out (2019)
While fans are loving the new Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man, on Netflix, those who want to revisit the film that started it all can find it right now on Prime Video. Knives Out introduced the world to Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc, a brilliant detective who can solve any crime and refuses to accept defeat.
In this first film, his case involves a dead author and that author’s highly toxic family, one of whom Blanc is convinced killed the man. The cast is great, with Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, and more, and Rian Johnson spins together a brilliant locked-door mystery that keeps fans guessing to the end.
Sinners (2025)
One of the favorites for the upcoming Oscars is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. The film stars Michael B. Jordan in two roles as brothers, Smoke and Stack, and their attempt to return home to open a juke joint during the Jim Crow era in the South. However, what they didn’t expect to run into was vampires attempting to assimilate the community.
Jordan was masterful in his role, often playing both brothers in the same scenes, talking to and, in some cases, fighting each other. The entire cast was fantastic, with Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benseon Miller, and Wunmi Mosaku as standouts.
