Beloved ‘Bonanza,’ ‘Wagon Train’ actress dies at 92

Actress Lory Patrick, known for her roles on such TV shows as “Tales of Wells Fargo,” “Wagon Train” and “Bonanza” has died. She was 92.
Deadline reported she died peacefully at her Gettysburg home on Jan. 26.
Born as Loretta Basham in 1933 in West Virginia, she worked as a model before moving to Los Angeles to try her hand at acting.
She appeared in over 70 television shows during the 1960s, most notably as schoolteacher Tina Swenson in “Tales of Wells Fargo.”
She also appeared on “Bonanza,” “Wagon Train,” “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” “It’s a Man’s World,” “Dr. Kildare,” “General Electric Theater” and “Laramie.”
She also appeared in the 1964 film “Surf Party” and the 1967 film “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”
She also wrote several episodes of “Bonanza,” wrote a column for a writer’s magazine and authored the book “Hearing God” in 1993. She also directed a stage production of the play “St. John in Exile” in 1983.
She was the widow of famed actor Dean Jones (“That Darned Cat,” “The Love Bug”), who died in 2015 at 84. Her first husband was science-fiction author Harlan Ellison. They divorced shortly after they married in 1966.
She is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three brothers and a sister.
