BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — Leaders in Blythewood on Monday announced new rules for security at events at Doko Meadows Park after fights broke out at a recent event.
Moving forward, officials say Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies will be present at all public and private events held in Doko Meadows Park.
Town events like Movies in the Park will have 2 deputies assigned. Large events, like Juneteenth and 4th of July, will see a significant increase.
Private events will also be required to cover the cost of law enforcement as part of future rental agreements.

The changes comes after what was supposed to be a family-friendly movie night recently when several fights broke out between some youths attending the event, forcing it to end early.
