In addition to Fauci, the high-profile immunologist who became a household name in America during the COVID-19 pandemic, the series will feature Arianna Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, as well as other health scientists and artists. Fauci is part of the digital program, but Huffington will be at the museum in April.
The initiative, dubbed “Being Human,” will include exhibits, a digital series, and other events that aim to “examine the complex web of connection that makes us human,” the museum said in a statement last week.
Boston’s Museum of Science launched a yearlong series of programs exploring human interconnectivity that will feature Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Being Human is spearheaded by the museum’s Center for Life Sciences and is part of the Centers for Public Science Learning.

“‘Being Human’ is our invitation to explore what’s inside everything that connects us,” said Insoo Hyun, director of the Center for Life Sciences, in the statement. “During times of uncertainty or conflict, it’s especially important to delve into the physical and mental qualities we all have in common and the ways we can help ourselves and each other live healthier, more fulfilling lives.”
The series will explore topics including women’s health, AI and technology in medicine, aging populations, body systems, and genetics. As part of the initiative, Fauci will appear on the newest season of The Big Question, the museum’s video series that explores the world’s biggest scientific discoveries. Huffington, who is also the founder and CEO of health technology company Thrive Global, will headline a symposium about AI and healthcare April 10.
The program officially launched Jan. 30 with an event that featured presentations from the project’s partners, which include Emerson College, Perkins School for the Blind, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Jameel Clinic. Attendees also got a preview of “imPRINTING: The Artist’s Brain,” an exhibit that “invites visitors to step inside the artist’s mind through a revolutionary data-encoded ‘thinking cap.’”
The Being Human series is the Boston Museum of Science’s third series of themed exhibits, according to Meaghan Agnew, director of public relations for the museum. In 2023, the museum did a six-month spotlight of Mars, and in 2024, the museum dedicated a year of its programming to climate change solutions.

The museum will announce Being Human initiatives each month throughout 2025.
