EDM lovers will get a chance to keep the dance party going in the desert a few months after the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
Goldenvoice, the promoter and organizer behind Coachella and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival, will host the Head Trip festival, a two-day, one-time EDM event featuring Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia headlining. The event, happening Saturday, Oct. 10-11, will also take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
Coachella and the Stagecoach Country Music Festival have seen an increase in EDM artists over the years, including dedicated stages such as the DoLab and Quasar Stage at Coachella and Diplo’s HonkyTonk at Stagecoach, which is curated by Diplo and often includes DJs.
With Head Trip, however, EDM is getting its own spotlight.
The Saturday show will feature Calvin Harris and tag-team (or B2B) sets from Fisher and Chris Lake Under Construction; Peggy Gou and Four Tet; and Seth Troxler and Ben Sterling. Sunday’s lineup will include Swedish Mafia, Skrillex, Dom Dolla B2B Kettama, The Blessed Madonna and DJ Harvey.
Head Trip will also feature the U.S. debut of the one-of-a-kind Sunflower Sound System designed by Floating Points. The system is set up inside a dome tent, acoustically treated with mycelium paneling, and decorated with tapestries and original artwork commissioned by DJ and artist Josephine Chime. The setup features 10 unique stacks, assembled and positioned to create an immersive, sonic experience. Floating Points and several special guests will DJ at Sunflower Sound System the entire weekend.
