Frontier Airlines has officially returned to Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) this week, launching non-stop services to three destinations across the western US. From November 21st, 2024, flights will launch to both San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), followed by flights to Denver International Airport (DEN) on November 22nd.
The routes were first announced by Frontier Airlines earlier this year. As the first flights begin to depart this week, the ultra-low-cost carrier’s Vice President of Network and Operations Design, Josh Flyr, celebrated the news, saying,
“We are thrilled to be back at Hollywood Burbank Airport, offering consumers in the greater Los Angeles area ultra-low-cost travel options to San Francisco, Phoenix, and Denver just in time for holiday travel.”

Frontier Airlines’ new services from Hollywood Burbank Airport are on popular routes already served by several carriers. The following airlines currently operate the same routes, going head-to-head with the ultra-low-cost carrier:
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – Alaska Airlines, United Airlines
– Alaska Airlines, United Airlines Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) – American Airlines, Southwest Airlines
– American Airlines, Southwest Airlines Denver International Airport (DEN) – Southwest Airlines, United Airlines.
The routes are so popular that Phoenix was the second most popular destination last year from Hollywood Burbank Airport, seeing more than 318,000 passengers. Meanwhile, San Francisco was the fifth-busiest, and Denver was the eighth-busiest route, with 233,000 and 203,000 passengers, respectively.

To qualify for the promotional fares, bookings must be made before December 8th for travel prior to December 18th, although certain blackout dates do apply within that period.

Last year, Hollywood Burbank Airport processed just over 6 million passengers. It is worth noting that the three routes launched this week are not the first services that Frontier Airlines has operated to and from the airport. The ultra-low-cost carrier previously launched flights to both Denver (DEN) and Phoenix (PHX), plus an additional service to Las Vegas (LAS), in July 2021.
