President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech was the longest in history at one hour and 47 minutes. He needed that much time to enumerate all of the legislation, deals, peace treaties, new programs, and innovations his administration has accomplished in just one, short year. They are real and they are helping every citizen of our great country. The president reminded us that we are still a strong, benevolent nation 250 years after our declaration of independence from Great Britain. He honored Americans young and old, including the victorious men’s U.S. hockey team, for their bravery, skill and courage. I stood in my family room to applaud the best of the best and join in the chant of, “USA! USA!”
The Republicans in the room were smiling, joyous, and jubilant while applauding each hero as his/her story was told. They made me proud to be an American.
The Democrats in the room, on the other hand, showed their true colors when they refused to stand when President Trump encouraged everyone in the room to stand if they believe the No. 1 job of our government is to serve American citizens, not illegal aliens. They didn’t stand or applaud for the many heroes, including Erika Kirk, whose husband Charlie was assassinated by a left-wing nut job. I kept shouting at my television, “Stand up you idiots, stand up!” as if they could hear me.
The Democrats in that room are hateful, bitter, angry, joyless and unhinged. Just look at the faces of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib flush with anger, rage and hatred. Their behavior exemplifies their contempt for our country and any semblance of decorum. They and their Democratic brethren would rather see our country fail than prosper under Trump’s leadership.
The Democratic response to the State of the Union, given by far-left Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, was another example of how assuredly the Democrats hate our country. She asked three yes/no questions and then proceeded to answer them herself. She asked about President Trump, “Is he making life more affordable?”
I shouted at my television, “Hell yes!”
Then, “Is he keeping Americans safe?”
Again (me) “Hell yes!”
Then,” Is he working on America’s behalf?”
Again (me), “Didn’t you listen to President Trump’s speech?”
Her condescending answer to all three was, “We all know the answer is no.”
(Me, again) “What is wrong with you people?”
My television was lucky to come out unscathed.
