Owen Cooper took home the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
The 16-year-old became the youngest ever to win the category. He received the honor for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in Adolescence at the 83rd annual ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11.
In his acceptance speech, Cooper expressed his gratitude for being recognized for the role.
“Wow, standing here with a Golden Globe, it does not feel real whatsoever,” he began. “What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through. We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family. What started off as, what I thought [was], ‘I might be okay, I might be awful. I never know.’ So I took a risk, and I went to drama classes.”
“I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing,” he recalled. “But I got through it, and I’m still very much an apprentice. So still learning every day. I’m still learning from the people that I sat in front of, you sat in front of me, who’s inspired me.”
He went on to thank Netflix and those who have supported him before concluding: “Bring on 2026. You’ll never walk alone.”
Nominees also included Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Walton Goggins (The White Lotus), Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Tramell Tillman (Severance) and Ashley Walters (Adolescence).
Adolescence is a limited series that follows a family that is unraveling as their 13-year-old son is accused of murdering his schoolmate. It taps into themes of toxic masculinity and unveils the impact social media has on young people.
This is Cooper’s first nomination and win for a Golden Globe. His castmate Ashley Walters was also in the running for the category, along with Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty both earning nods for their performances and Adolescence being up for Best Television Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Crudup stars in The Morning Show as UBA president Cory Ellison. In the Apple TV series, Cory has romantic tension with Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson, who anchors’ The Morning Show along with Alex Levy, played by Jennifer Aniston.
This is Crudup’s third nomination for a Golden Globe. Previously, Crudup was nominated in 2024 and 2022 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, all for his role in The Morning Show.
Goggins’s Rick Hatchett on The White Lotus brought much of the show’s thrill in season 3. HBO’s show sees Rick on a romantic getaway with his girlfriend, Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), at the White Lotus resort in Thailand. However, things take a turn when it’s revealed that Rick is actually there to confront the man he believed murdered his father.
In season 3 of The White Lotus, Isaacs plays Timothy, the patriarch of the Ratliff family, whose vacation gets turned upside down when he learns he is being investigated for shady financial dealings. His wife Victoria Ratliff (Posey) and their three children, Saxton (Patrick Schwarzenegger), Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), however, are blissfully unaware. The only thing keeping him grounded through it all is his wife’s lorazepam.
Isaacs was previously nominated for a Golden Globe in 2008’s Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television category for his role in The State Within.
Tillman plays Seth Milchick, the newly instated head of the severed floor at Lumon Industries, on the Apple TV series Severance. Mr. Milchick took over Harmony Cobel’s (Patricia Arquette) role after she was fired. In the last season of the psychological drama, Milchick encouraged Mark S. — the innie version of Mark Scout, played by Adam Scott — to complete the mysterious Cold Harbor file against pressure from Lumon execs.
Walters was also nominated for his performance in Adolescence. He plays Luke Bascombe, a detective determined to uncover the truth behind the murder of a schoolgirl. Bascombe is the one who arrests Jamie Miller (Cooper) under suspicion of murder.
