Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is permanently closed. The ride will be reimagined into a Muppets attraction.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closed
During the ride’s final day, it had wait times up to 115 minutes and was even the longest wait in all of Walt Disney World Resort. At 8:30, just a half an hour before Hollywood Studios was set to close, the ride was sitting at an 85-minute wait time before jumping back up to 115 minutes by 8:45 p.m.
The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster courtyard remained open so guests can reach Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
By 8:59 p.m., park closing time, the ride wait time ballooned up to 135 minutes. Then, the wait times were turned off on the My Disney Experience app as Hollywood Studios closed at 9 p.m.
When 9 p.m. arrived, any guests who were not beyond the gate area were asked to depart the line.
The single-rider line was also closed as the standby line snaked around the outdoor queue.
As the ride approached closing time, about 30 minutes out, the PhotoPass line in front of the attraction archway was still quite busy.
Three of the kiosks outside the attraction closed early. Rock Your Face, Pretzel Palooza, and Shop ‘n’ Roll all called it a night before the ride did.
However, KRNR The Rock Station was still going strong as the clock approached 9 p.m.
The ride’s pre-show closed in December so Disney could start getting the new pre-show ready ahead of the ride’s full closure.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open this summer. In this new version of the attraction, guests will join the Electric Mayhem, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and more Muppets at G-Force Records.
The studio has been bought by Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse. He put Scooter in charge, and guests will meet the manager in animatronic form in the new pre-show.
Also in the pre-show will be animatronic penguin audio engineers. Miss Piggy and Kermit will appear on screens. Guests on a V.I.P. tour will see the Electric Mayhem delayed in the recording studio before they head out to their concert across town.
Thankfully, Muppet Labs has souped up a limousine to get guests across Hollywood in time to reach the concert. The scenery and landmarks will feature a Muppet twist, and guests will also hear the Electric Mayhem playing iconic hits.
Outside, the ride’s iconic guitar will get a psychedelic Electric Mayhem-inspired makeover. The piano motif at the base of the guitar will include one gold key as a nod to Dr. Teeth’s gold tooth. The concept art also includes the new ride poster on the wall of the building.
