MCU News: Thor’s MCU Future, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
Chris Hemsworth Confirms Future MCU Plans Beyond Avengers: Doomsday — Chris Hemsworth confirmed this week that talks and plans are being made for Thor’s future in the MCU after Doomsday. This will most likely involve an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, and potentially Thor 5 as well.
Chris Hemsworth’s New Thor: Love and Thunder Comments — Hemsworth also talked this week about 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, admitting that they probably went too far with the comedy in the God of Thunder’s fourth movie:
“It was kind of like a Monty Python sketch, and we took the piss probably a little much, then there was some backlash.”
This suggests that Thor will not only be more grounded in Avengers: Doomsday, but likely in future MCU appearances too.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Synopsis Confirms Time Jump — Spider-Man: Brand New Day got an official synopsis last week, confirming that the upcoming movie starring Tom Holland will be set four years after the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
That means that the MCU’s Peter Parker will have been operating as Spider-Man on his own for quite some time amid the consequences of the third Spider-Man with the spell that made everyone forget who Peter Parker was (including Zendaya’s MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned).
New Venom Animated Movie In The Works — It was recently reported that an animated Venom movie is in the works from Sony Pictures with Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein as directors and producers (Final Destination: Bloodlines). Although live-action Venom actor Tom Hardy is reportedly involved in the project, it’s currently unknown in what capacity.
Bullseye’s New Comic-Accurate Look in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 — A new piece of promotional art for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 reveals that Bullseye will finally be getting his comic-accurate mask with the bullseye on the forehead, matching the bullseye gloves he had in the first season of the MCU revival series.
DCU News: New Superman Poster, Lanterns Logo, And More
DC Studios’ Lanterns Debuts Official Logo — DC Studios’ new official logo for its upcoming Lanterns series has been released. While the previous logo we’d seen was just white text, this one definitely looks better, with the letter being more weathered and some green on the fringes.
James Gunn Hypes Up DC’s Gorilla Grodd — Celebrating the 67th anniversary of Gorilla Grodd’s first appearance in the comics, it’s always cool to see James Gunn generating excitement for upcoming DCU characters.
Having debuted with a small appearance in the first season of Creature Commandos, Grodd is expected to have a role in the upcoming Superman spin-off series starring Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen.
James Gunn Addresses Rumors About The Batman & Brave And The Bold — When asked on Threads if DC Studios was waiting for Matt Reeves’ The Batman trilogy to fully wrap up before releasing the DCU’s Batman movie Brave and the Bold, James Gunn responded with a simple: “Nope.”
DCU’s Wonder Woman Show is NOT Cancelled — Despite the rumors that Paradise Lost had been cancelled, Gunn confirmed on Threads that the project was still in development and not canceled at all:
“Definitely not. Jesus I go on Threads for the first time in weeks and it’s just one insanely wrong thing after the other. What is going on?”
DC Reveals New Look At Spider-Man & Superman’s Upcoming Team-Up — New looks at the upcoming Spider-Man/Superman crossover comics from Marvel and DC keep on coming, including this incredible first look at Peter Parker and Clark Kent together.
Based on the new image from the story by Mark Waid and Joege Jimenez, it looks as though Parker might be subbing for Jimmy Olsen as Clark Kent’s photographer for a new article.
Official New ‘Superman’ Poster Released (And It’s Really Cool) — This last week also saw the release of a new official Superman poster from artist Jake Kontou.
Featured and available for purchase via Bottle Neck Gallery, the poster is quite impressive and evocative of classic movie posters by the late Drew Struzan.
