The Sci-Fi Masterpiece The MCU Needs To Aspire To

Andor is the type of TV show that the MCU needs to be trying to aspire to if it ever hopes to have a series of its own with high critical acclaim. Andor is not just one of the best Star Wars properties ever, but it’s one of the best sci-fi TV shows ever.
A large part of the success is thanks to the creative vision of Tony Gilroy, an Academy Award-nominated director and screenwriter. His two-season sci-fi prequel to Rogue One, and consequently, the original trilogy of films, are highly regarded by fans and critics alike, and the MCU should be taking notes.
Marvel Doesn’t Have An MCU Show As Good As Andor
The MCU has gone through several iterations over the last two decades, and, unfortunately, the valleys are as low as the peaks are high. After phase 1 of the MCU, Disney did not seem completely sure in which direction it wanted to go, save that television was clearly going to become a bigger part of the MCU.
There isn’t anything close to the quality of Andor in the MCU library, though. Shows like Secret Invasion, Hawkeye, and Moonknight represent the nadir of the MCU project, but even the more acclaimed titles like WandaVision and Loki are not close to the quality of Andor.
Andor Is A Rare Achievement Even For Star Wars
For what it’s worth, the Star Wars franchise was not looking too great before Andor came along. Beyond The Mandalorian, the TV catalog of Star Wars shows was not anything to write home about. Andor is a bit special in that way. You don’t always have someone of Tony Gilroy’s caliber willing to take on a subject like this.
Andor is the best thing produced for the Star Wars universe since Return of the Jedi, and I may even argue, since The Empire Strikes Back. Andor is a show that works on all levels, from the acting to writing, and it does so while still keeping the core tenets of Star Wars and everything that comes with the franchise.
Why Andor Works So Much Better Than Most Disney+ Shows
Andor works so well because of the writing. It’s a simple answer, but it’s the best one. Andor is just a better-written show than other Disney+ shows, and other shows in general, for that matter. There is a propulsion and a clearly defined plot in Andor that you don’t get in a lot of other Star Wars and MCU shows.
